Chart Screenshot Attachments & Visual Journaling
A quantitative trade log without chart screenshots lacks the structural context needed for retrospective review. The Image Attachments module (TradeImageUploader) allows traders to store visual evidence of market structure, execution timing, and trade management directly within each trade record.
1. Technical Ingestion & Client-Side Compression
To guarantee fast loading times and sharp chart readability, ILoveTrading processes screenshots through an automated client-side optimization pipeline before uploading:
- WebP Encoding & Auto-Compression: Images are compressed on the client via Web Workers down to ≤ 500,KB with up to 2560,px resolution, converting raw PNG/JPEG formats into lightweight WebP while preserving crisp candlestick details.
- Three Direct Ingestion Channels:
- Clipboard Paste (
Ctrl+V/Cmd+V): Take a screenshot in TradingView, MetaTrader, or NinjaTrader and paste it directly into the Trade Detail Modal. - Drag & Drop: Drag image files directly onto the active upload zone.
- File Browser Picker: Standard manual file selection.
- Clipboard Paste (
- Capacity: Up to 3 screenshots per trade to cover the full execution lifecycle.
2. The 3-Screenshot Institutional Standard
To maximize the review value of your journal, attach three screenshots representing each phase of the trade:
| 1. HTF Macro Context | 2. LTF Trigger Entry | 3. Trade Management |
|---|---|---|
| (4H / Daily Structure) | (1M / 5M Invalidation) | (Target Exit / Outcome) |
-
Higher Timeframe Context (HTF - 4H / Daily):
- Documents overarching trend direction, major liquidity pools, key supply/demand zones, and daily bias.
- Answers: "Why was this asset positioned for a long/short setup?"
-
Lower Timeframe Trigger (LTF - 1M / 5M / 15M):
- Captures the precise entry execution, Fair Value Gap (FVG), Order Block retest, stop-loss placement, and planned take-profit targets.
- Answers: "What specific trigger confirmed entry execution?"
-
Trade Outcome & Management (Post-Trade):
- Shows how price evolved following entry, whether trailing stops were executed, and how the exit was finalized (Take Profit, Stop Loss, or Manual Scratch).
- Answers: "Did price respect the invalidation level or surrender profits early?"
3. Storage Security & Lightbox Review
- Expiring Signed URLs: Trade images are stored securely in cloud storage using temporary signed URLs that expire after 120 minutes, ensuring sensitive broker account numbers or proprietary indicators remain private.
- Interactive Lightbox Viewer: Click any thumbnail to open the high-resolution fullscreen Lightbox for distraction-free weekend retrospective analysis.
- One-Click Image Management: Delete and replace obsolete screenshots instantly with automatic state synchronization.
